An Event-ful Inaugural Weekend
Posted at 7:09 p.m. on Jan. 17
Wax figures of President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama ride in an open-top bus down F Street Northwest on Thursday, en route to Madame Tussauds wax museum, ahead of this weekend’s inaugural festivities.
There are hundreds of inaugural events taking place this weekend, and while everyone knows about the official balls, here are some of the more fun, quirky goings-on. Some feature mural painting and spitballing big ideas. One involves hip-hop superstar Lupe Fiasco, another the homegrown street artist BORF, who created the poster art for Nevermind the Inauguration. This weekend, belt out patriotic karaoke. Heck, go to a pig roast luau. So spend the next few days seeing the best of our diamond district. Go forth and party!
