Bad News: Republicans Lose Top Baseball Player to Injury

Republicans hoping to redeem themselves after a devastating loss in last year’s Congressional Baseball Game will have to take the field without one of their star players.

Rep. Ron DeSantis will not be playing in the 53rd annual game this June due to a shoulder problem.  This is bad news for his team, since the Florida Republican was an accomplished player.  DeSantis was the captain of the Yale baseball team his senior year and played in the Little League World Series.

Last year, Republicans hoped DeSantis could provide some balance against the Democratic Rep. Cedric L. Richmond of Louisiana.  Although DeSantis showed his skills on the field, it was not enough to stop the Democrats from winning 22-0.

Without one of their top players, Republicans may have an even tougher time against the Democrats this year.  But despite last year’s performance, Republican team manager Joe L. Barton of Texas told Roll Call that his team had “a lot of enthusiasm and a real positive attitude.”

Our tax dollars at work…. plus Desantis’s injury is covered by our tax dollar funding of full medical coverage for these athletes, er, legislators.

ITS NOT A SURPRISED THAT PEOPLE ARE BEGINING TO VOICE THEIR ANGER AT THE REPUBLICAN SENATE, AND AT SENATOR JOHN BOEHNER IN PARTICULAR, FOR THEIR TOTAL FAILURE TO DO THE “RIGHT & MORAL” THING, AND PASS THE UNEMPLOYMENT EXTENSION BILL FOR THESE 2.6 MILLION UNEMPLOYED FAMILIES WITHOUT BENEFITS. SINCE LATE LAST DECEMBER, THE REPUBLICANS HAVE BEEN HOLDING THE EXTENSION BILL “HOSTAGE” IN THE SENATE FOR POLITICAL LEVERAGE. THEY HAVE MADE DELAY AFTER DELAY, DRAGGING THEIR FEET, WHILE FAMILLIES WERE BEING DESTROYED FINANCIALLY, MANY BECOMING HOMELESS IN THE PROCESS. THE REPUBLICANS HAVE USED THESE FAMILIES AS BARGAINING CHIPS, IN ORDER TO GET THE KOCH BROTHER’S OIL PIPE LINE APPROVED IN RETURN. THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT THE AVERAGE AMERICAN WORKER, THEY GIVE THEIR LOYALITY TO THE UPPER ONE PERCENT IN THE COUNTRY, NOT TO THE 99 PERCENT WHO DO MOST OF THE WORKING AND TAX PAYING. I’M SURPTEISED THAT PEOPLE HAVEN’T STARTED PROTESTING IN THE STREET ABOUT THIS. I KNOW THAT THE REPUBLICANS HAVE WASTED ONY CHANCE OF WINNING THE NEXT ELECTIONS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE..

Just curious, Yonatan, how long are taxpayers supposed to keep paying someone who is unemployed… 26 weeks, 52, 99, five years, indefinitely until they qualify for Social Security? The more we extend the time period someone out of work can collect tax dollars, the more probable the fact that they are collecting more than they ever put in. At some point in time, there needs to be an end to UIE. So how about telling us what it should be, instead of whining that it is not be extended yet again.

The Republican and democratic parties, have both FAILED the millions of unemployed families without an UNEMPLOYMENT EXTENSION since late last December. For over five months now, the republicans have held the extension bill “HOSTAGE” in the senate, for political leverage, and party agenda. While millions of these families were facing EVICTIONS, HOME FORECLOSURES, BANKRUPTCY, AND HOMELESSNESS, the politicians were playing “party politics” and using them as bargaining chips. Both party’s have totally walked away from this crisis, preferring not do anything further more about it. When so many families are struggling, and hurting financially, and watching their credit becoming destroyed, the congress approved a foreign aid package for the Ukraine, worth BILLIONS of tax payer dollars. How can this be possible? What ever happened to taking care of Americans here at home? Both parties have shown a total lack of human compassion, and common decency towards these unemployed families. Americans need to demonstrate out in the streets across this country, and demand CHANGE. We need to REMOVE these career politicians, and replace them with “PUBLIC SERVANTS” again, that will truly represent the people
