Micah was born at 3:08 p.m. on Jan. 4, weighing 6 pounds, 5 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches. He is the couple’s second child, following Ezra Alan Margolies, who was born in August 2013.

The Lighter Side of Congress

UNITED STATES - OCTOBER 29 - Incoming speaker Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., shakes hands with outgoing Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., stands beside in the House Chambers of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, Thursday, October 29, 2015. With another calendar year and session of Congress wrapped up, HOH would be remiss if we didn’t take a look back at what made it all special, from Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton’s parking skills to the richest man in Congress, Rep. Darrell Issa, dishing on where the cheapest sodas were,  from Capitol Police leaving guns in the potty to Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., doing 46 pushups. Full story

Rep. Don Young, R-Alaska, welcomed a great grandson this month, Jaxson, who was born Dec. 13 and whom the congressman met for the first time on Christmas day. He is Young’s first great grandchild.

“Parenthood has been one of the greatest honors of my life, so words can hardly describe the joy I felt holding my great grandson for the first time,” he shared on Facebook.

Jaxson is the son of Caity Crombie, one of Young’s 14 grand-children. Kaity is the daughter of Dawn Vallely, one of Young’s two daughters.

It’s been a busy 2015 for Young family additions. On June 9, Young married Anne Garland Walton on his 82nd birthday. The two had a private ceremony in the Capitol chapel and House Chaplain Patrick J. Conroy officiated.

Speaker John A. Boehner is famous for being a softie when it comes to “the children,” so we can’t imagine what kind of tears of joy he shed at the birth of his first grandchild, whose arrival was announced to the world on Thursday afternoon via Twitter:

No photos yet, but the Ohio Republican offered a few vital stats for inquiring minds following a congratulatory tweet from his colleague, House GOP Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers:

HOH hears that little Alistair’s mom is Lindsay, one of Boehner’s two daughters who married in 2013.

A spokeswoman in the speaker’s office confirmed that Boehner is “thrilled.”
