Actor George Clooney testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday, but must still have some gas left in his activist tank. He and his father, veteran journalist Nick Clooney, will join Congressional lawmakers, religious leaders and human rights advocates outraged by a tyrannical food blockade in protesting outside the Sudanese Embassy (2210 Massachusetts Ave. NW) at 10 a.m. Friday.
The group will call for a stop to the government-imposed clampdown being orchestrated by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. Expected Congressional demonstrators include Democratic Reps. Jim McGovern (Mass.), Jim Moran (Va.) and John Olver (Mass.) and former Rep. Tom Andrews (D-Maine), now CEO of United to End Genocide.
