Czech That: Sacrificial Lamb Gets White House, Congressional Petition
Posted at 1:19 p.m. on July 10, 2012
Fans of metal music finally have a use for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: getting their good buddy out of the clink in the Czech Republic.
That’s where Lamb of God front man D. Randall “Randy” Blythe remains imprisoned — almost a week after having posted $200,000 bond — on manslaughter charges stemming from the death of a fan injured during a 2010 show in Prague.
The Gauntlet has posted footage of the purportedly fatal spill that calls into question who, if anybody, is to blame for the international incident:
Blythe’s fans have now gotten politically active, posting a petition on the White House portal demanding that the administration end this civil rights standoff and spirit Blythe home.
At press time, the group had secured almost 3,500 signatures. And it’s not stopping there.
Consummate showman Dave Brockie, the lead singer of costumed crusaders GWAR, a band that routinely decapitates heads of state at their shows sporting fake blood and other bodily fluids, told CBS6 in Richmond, Va., this wouldn’t be happening if Justin Bieber got pinched by foreign authorities:
Brockie et al. have also urged their fiercely devoted fan base to get involved.
“We ask the GWAR family to support Randy in any way you can. Write a letter to your congressman, contribute to the defense fund, boycott Czech products, or sign the White House petition to get them to pressure the Czech Republic clear Randy of these ridiculous charges,” the group posted on its Facebook page.
