Dear World, HOH Will Now Web Log

Oh hello, Capitol Hill. We here at HOH have an important announcement: In this, 12 years into the 21st century, we have discovered the Internets.

HOH, you must be asking, what, pray, is the Internet and can it be used as a plural noun?

Of the latter, we say, of course. And of the former? Well, in 2006, the late Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) explained the Internets thusly:

“The Internet started with the concept of local to local connections across the country,” he said. Then he said something about Alaska.

The Internet is also an efficient delivery device for information, pornography and pictures of cats — straight into your computer.

Stevens went on to explain that sometimes the commercial Internet can confuse your personal Internet and clog up the tubes, and it is not a place for dump trucks to dump stuff. This is, to our way of thinking, a rather accurate assessment of the online world.

Right now you are saying to yourself: “This is all very interesting, but what does it mean?”

And to you we say: We are pleased to announce we have begun to chronicle Capitol Hill shenanigans on our very own Internet diary called a “web log.” Privately, we have nicknamed this Internet repository a “blog.”

With this revolutionary technology, HOH can now be tart and tangy with much greater speed and frequency.
