Give Me Your Tired of Shutdown, Your Poor | Capitol Quip

The first week of the government shutdown produced its share of rancor, which seemed to give way to a sense of fatalism as people questioned whether this is really the best the country can expect from its elected officials. Which brings us to this week’s Capitol Quip.

Send us a caption for this week’s contest by leaving it in the comments section of our Heard on the Hill blog. Editors will pick five finalists on Wednesday, and everyone can vote for the winner through Thursday.

John Boehner has spent most of his House speakership trying to keep the
various factions of his Republican majority together. With the recent government shutdown crisis, Boehner’s ability to manage his caucus is once again being tested. The rebellious faction hails from solidly conservative,
mostly rural areas across the country. They’ve been called the “weird
caucus” by Senate Leader Harry Reid and the “suicide caucus”
by Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer, in reference to a disregard for their party’s survival. They sometimes refer to themselves as
“wacko birds”, adopting as their own the derisive label given to them by Republican Senator John McCain. President Obama – DO NOT CAVE -IN! You gave up too much in the 2011 deal. The real America is behind you and not the Ted Cruz tea party Neo-Confederate America! President Obama do not call or talk to Boehner until a clean CR is sent to the Senate and the debt ceiling is raised without any deals(let Boehner continue to “grand stand” before the cameras). President Obama DO NOT LET BOEHNER OUT OF HIS BOX SO HE CAN BRAG AGAIN!
