It feels as if Georgetown Cupcake is everywhere these days.
The local sweet shop has a reality show on TLC, it’s graced the pages of the weekly tabloids, it has a new sweet spot in SoHo and today, its chief executive cupcake will testify before the House Ways and Means Committee.
Finally, it’s arrived.
Georgetown Cupcake CEO Steve LaMontagne will testify Thursday on “the implications of the Affordable Care Act on small and large employers.”
“We believe that affordable health insurance is a NECESSARY component of a well-rounded compensation package,” LaMontagne says in his prepared testimony. “[It] is the right thing to do.”
The confectionery company, he says, supports providing an option for affordable health insurance.
“Above all, we believe that most employers, especially Georgetown Cupcake, want to be part of the solution,” he concludes.
For our part, we believe that most Members of Congress and their staff want treats, especially cupcakes, delivered to their committee room.
