Oh, the places you’ll go, Kristi Noem!
The Republican freshman walked in graduation ceremonies for her bachelor’s degree in political science from South Dakota State University this past Saturday. (She earned her degree in December.)
Noem dropped out of school in 1994 to work in the family business after her father died suddenly.
She was elected to the state House in 2006, and in 2008 she began taking undergraduate courses online.
So to recap: State lawmaker and mother of three goes back to college. Wins a U.S. House seat. Keeps taking classes and working the farm. Graduates toward end of first Congressional term.
It’s enough to make HOH come up with our own Dr. Seuss ode:
Congratulations, Congresswoman!
Saturday was your day!
You’re off to great places!
You’re off and away!
You can go anywhere you,
your constituents, staff and Republican leaders say!
Correction: May 14
An earlier version of this item did not distinguish that while Rep. Kristi Noem (R-S.D.) walked in graduation ceremonies on May 5, she received her bachelor’s degree in December.
