NRCC Aims to Drive Pelosi Nuts

Updated: 8:39 p.m.

The mischief-makers at the National Republican Congressional Committee are crowdsourcing a negative ad with which they plan to shame House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) sometime next week.

The nascent #LOLaPelosi campaign invites disgruntled voters to let Pelosi have it in 100 characters or less.

User-generated submissions are being collected and vetted now, with the winning insult set to be plastered on a mobile billboard (a $4,000 investment) that will incessantly circle Pelosi’s San Francisco office in the coming days.

“The NRCC intends to demonstrate with the #LOLaPelosi campaign that Democrats can run, but they can’t hide from the people,” NRCC Digital Director Gerrit Lansing said of the online program.

When we scouted the “leader board” earlier today, the top contender was “Please never be speaker again.”

It now looks as if Democrats have entered the fray, weaving several pro-Pelosi missives into the litany of partisan gripes. “We love you, Nancy. We need you as speaker!” had the strongest showing when last we checked.

Other entries that caught our eye include:

  • “Nancy, heard you’ll be out of work soon. You should submit your info to Romney’s resume binder”;
  • “If Congress were paid based on productivity, you would owe the taxpayers”; and
  • “Just go away or I will taunt you a second time”

Lansing hinted that if all goes as planned, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.) could be subject to the next round of rolling negativity.

House Democrats are unimpressed by the messaging stunt.

“So the bored frat boys at the NRCC have nothing better to do than create stupid websites attacking Democratic women. Looks like they have their own binder full of women,” a senior Democratic aide told HOH.
