Rep. Pete Sessions is divorced.
The Texas Republican announced last July that he and his wife of 27 years, Juanita, were separating, but little news was forthcoming afterward.
As it turns out, the separation was brief. A month later, his office confirms, he and Juanita, who goes by the nickname Nete, divorced. A quick check of news outlets shows that the granting of the divorce came and went quietly.
In a statement that Sessions released at the time of the separation and that was again provided when asked for comment last week, Sessions said he was “grateful for many years of marriage and the blessing of two wonderful sons.” He asked for privacy and declined to comment further.
In happier times, Sessions explained his appeal in his heavily Hispanic district by citing his marriage to Nete, who is Mexican.
He also once posted her favorite recipes on his Congressional website. They have now been taken down.
