Rahm Emanuel Resumes Familiar Routine

Ex-Rep. Rahm Emanuel skipped town a few years back to become mayor of Chicago, but he hasn’t forgotten his favorite haunts here in Washington, D.C.

A tipster tells HOH that Emanuel spent Thursday night at Bibiana, the Italian arm of a local restaurant group Emanuel became very familiar with during his storied career (adviser to President Bill Clinton, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman, House Democratic Caucus chairman, chief of staff for President Barack Obama).

No word on what he and his two companions ordered, but confidence is high they all found something to their liking; we’ve been dazzled by house-made lamb sausage swaddled in sautéed spinach, mouthwatering beef tripe ragout and potato- and salami-stuffed squid on previous visits.

According to media reports, Emanuel also showed up at the White House this morning.

Might he have been measuring the drapes?

No dice, he assured DuJour scribe Nina Burleigh, who quizzed “Rahmbo” about his next step:

“First Jewish president?”

“Not happening,” he says. “This is the last job in electoral politics, in public life.”

Whatevs. Our guess is he’ll be swinging by 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. plenty between now and 2016.
