Sweets Sweeping 2012 ‘A Taste of America’
Posted at 4:23 p.m. on June 8, 2012
The food warring rages on here at CQ Roll Call as voters work their will in the second annual “A Taste of America” regional foods battle.
Last year’s winner, the coconut- and tapioca-based dessert enjoyed in the Northern Mariana Islands, is currently running neck-and-neck with Utah’s culinary ambassador, cherry cobbler. Both entries are hovering around the 30,000-vote mark — a commanding lead over every other gustatory contender. (The next closest bid comes from Georgia’s peach cobbler, which stands nearly 8,200 votes strong.)
Currently pulling up the rear: Ohio’s peanut butter-filled confection, the buckeye, which has fewer than 250 supporters.
Cast your ballots between now and the end of the month for chance to win tickets to the baseball game. The winning food will be announced June 28 at a reception at Nationals Park.
