Take Five With Rep. Rodney Davis

If it’s Tuesday, it’s time for another Take Five, HOH’s chance to get to know a member of Congress by asking five fun questions.
This week, freshman Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Ill., tells us whom he’d choose to swap lives with for one week and why his mom is an inspiration.
Q. If you could be someone else for one week, who would you want to be?
A: I’d want to be [House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi], so that I can take myself off of the [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s] target list.
Q. What’s your favorite thing to do when you get some free time?
A: My favorite thing to do in my free time is coach my twin boys’ football and baseball teams.
Q. Apart from your constituents, what’s the best thing about serving Illinois’ 13th District?
A: The opportunity to work to find principled compromises that will forever change the direction of our country for the better.
Q. Growing up, who was your biggest inspiration, and why?
A: My biggest inspiration was my mom. She reminded me every day, “You can be anything you want to be, and don’t let anyone tell you differently, honey.” I’ll never forget that she would pronounce the word “honey” with a long “o.” I really miss her.
Q. The Oscars were on Sunday. Do you have a favorite actor and actress?
A: My favorite actress is my 16-year-old daughter. She deserves an Oscar for some of the acting my wife, Shannon, and I experience every week at home with her. Representing the district that has the Lincoln Home, Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices and Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum makes Daniel Day-Lewis the obvious choice for my favorite actor.
