Derby Day Addendum

We here at HOH consider our editorial mission to be, partially, one of public service. And what better way to convey that than to give our loyal readers a few ideas for how to spend the upcoming weekend.
Start it off right Friday afternoon with the grand opening of Hill Country’s Backyard Barbecue pop-up at the National Building Museum. Starting at 4 p.m. on the west lawn of the museum at Fifth Street Northwest between F and G streets, the HC crowd will serve up smoked meat, beer and tunes.
On Saturday, it’s the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs, Ky., the Kentucky Derby. As we previously reported, the hipster group extraordinaire Brightest Young Things is sponsoring its “Prancin’ — a Derby Day Party” at Hill Center, 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE.
If the BYT crowd isn’t your thing, check out the soiree at Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar at 1104 H St. NE. The folks from DC Brau and Angel’s Envy bourbon will be plying their wares, along with the booze-laden bakers at Crunkcakes. By the time it’s post time, well, most people should be happy. We look forward to what they have in store for Preakness Day in two weeks.
Not into the sport of kings? Check out the new exhibit at art gallery The Fridge, “…with love and care.” Seven artists, ranging from D.C.’s own DECOY and Astrotwitch to Sao Paulo’s Galo anchor a show curated by Astrotwitch at 516 1/2 Eighth St. SE.
And Sunday? Try to recover. Congress is back, after all.
